Pirates Throw Out Daphne
In Classic Semis

AL (February 23, 2010) -- Fairhope blasted Daphne for
six runs in the bottom of the second inning and answered
every Trojan score with one of its own on the way to a 10-5
win in a BayBears High School Classic semifinal at Hank
Aaron Stadium on Monday night.
Daryl Norris struck out seven
Daphne hitters and gave up five runs in six innings to get
the win for Fairhope. Norris also drove in one run in the
win.
Fairhope improved to 4-0 and
played St. Paul’s in the BayBears Classic championship game
on Tuesday.
Daphne scored first when Jordan
Blanchette hit a towering two-run homer over the right field
wall in the bottom of the first.
Fairhope answered with six runs
in the top of the second. Justin Hathcock had a two-run
double, then Chase Domino drove him in on a bunt. Cody
Etheridge sent Domino home on a groundout on the next play.
Peyton Fuller added a two-run double to give Fairhope a 6-2
lead after two innings.
Daphne scored in the top of the
third when Cameron Peterson hit into a double play but drove
in Jared Olson.
Fairhope answered with an RBI
single from Etheridge in the top of the third.
Daphne got an RBI from Brandon
Peterson in the third, and Fairhope again answered with an
RBI single from Norris.
Fairhope answered another Daphne
score in the top of the sixth. Wes Kent tripled, then went
home on a groundout from Fuller. Fairhope scored its last
run in the top of the seventh. Domino tripled and Brock
Gilheart drove him in with a single.
Fairhope chased Daphne starting
pitcher Brandon Peterson out of the game after three innings
of work. Jordan Thornhill pitched four innings in relief for
Daphne. |
