AL (February 27, 2010) -- LEROY 18, DEMOPOLIS 3: Snow's
seven RBIs lead Leroy's 18-3 rout of Demopolis - A.J. Snow
slugged a pair of three-run homers and had seven RBIs to
lead Leroy's 18-3 rout of Demopolis Friday in the Tombigbee
Classic. Joseph Alday (1-1) allowed three runs on three hits
in four innings, Clifton Covington was 3-for-3 with a home
run and three RBIs, and Sammie Coates was 2-for-3 with two
RBIs for the Bears (5-1), who host Clarke County at 11 a.m.
today.
CLARKE COUNTY 6, WASHINGTON
COUNTY 5: Payne Wilson induced a pop-out with a runner on
third to end Washington County's three-run rally in the
seventh as CCHS held on to win in Leroy in the Tombigbee
Classic. Braxton Early had three hits, Brandon Pugh a
two-run single and Zack Watford (1-0) pitched the first six
innings for Clarke County (4-1), which plays Classic games
in Leroy today against the Bears at 11 a.m. and Millry at 1
p.m.
BALDWIN COUNTY 6, FOLEY 0:
Justin Miller (2-0) fanned nine in a three-hitter and Lee
Bush had a two-run single for the Tigers, who also got an
RBI single from C.J. Stevens. BCHS (3-2 ) visits Gulf Shores
for a doubleheader at 11 a.m. today.
MURPHY 10, BAKER 9: Corey
Tittle's RBI single capped the Panthers' four-run rally with
two outs in the seventh to win in the Murphy Invitational.
Jordan Spriggs had a three-run triple, Ty Singletary had two
hits and two RBIs, and Ben Givens had two hits and an RBI
for the Panthers. Chandler Morales (1-0) allowed four hits
in three innings for Murphy (3-3), which meets Theodore for
the tournament championship at 1:30 p.m. today.
THEODORE 10, MARY MONTGOMERY 2:
Greg Conner knocked in three runs with three hits, including
a home run, Brandon Kiser had two hits and two RBIs, and
Jordan Watson two hits and two runs for the Bobcats. Chase
Patterson hit a two-run single for the Vikings. Brandon
Hallford (2-0) struck out seven in four innings for Theodore
(4-2), which returns to Mims Park at 1:30 p.m. today to play
Murphy.
BLOUNT 12, SELMA 11: Winning
pitcher Kelvin Coleman delivered a two-run double with two
outs in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Leopards.
Michael Ward, who scored three runs and stole five bases,
and Sylvester Crum walked ahead of Coleman's big hit.
Sylvester Edwards knocked in four runs with two hits,
including a triple, and Coleman pitched the final two
innings for Blount (3-3), which plays LeFlore at 2:30 p.m.
today at Vigor in the championship game of the Inner City
Classic.
DAPHNE SPLITS: Brandon Peterson
(2-1) struck out 10 in a two-hit shutout and drove in two
runs with three hits in a six-inning, 10-0 win over
Hartselle. Kyle Reese added three hits and four RBIs and
Russ Mosley two hits and two RBIs for the Trojans (4-3), who
visit Fairhope at 6 p.m. Friday. Daphne lost to Cullman 3-1,
with Mosley (1-1) giving up six hits in six innings. Jared
Olsen had two hits for the Trojans.
SATSUMA 7, AUBURN 3: Jacob Noble
(2-1) fanned eight in a six-inning three-hitter and drove in
two runs, as did Taylor Adams and Danny Sellers, to lead
Satsuma in the Johnny Poole Classic. Cody Broadus went
3-for-4 with an RBI for the Gators (4-2), who host Faith
Academy at 4 p.m. today.
FAITH ACADEMY 9, BRYANT 1: James
Trayler (1-1) allowed one run on four hits with nine
strikeouts in 6Ã’ innings as Faith won in the Johnny Poole
Classic at Satsuma. Trayler also had two hits and two RBIs,
Tyler Kiernan three hits and two RBIs, and Taylor Kiernan
had two hits and an RBI for the Rams (2-3), who play Auburn
at 1 p.m. today in the tournament. Bryant (5-2) plays Auburn
at 11 a.m.
BAYSIDE 11-8, MOBILE CHRISTIAN
7-2: The Admirals scored seven runs in the top of the ninth
to win the nightcap and sweep the Leopards. In game one, Joe
Vincent (2-0) earned the win, allowing seven runs on six
hits in seven innings with five strikeouts and two walks.
Joby Allen had three hits, including a home run, to lead
Bayside at the plate while Josh Bernor had two hits. Justin
Raines (1-0) picked up the win in game two, allowing one run
in four innings with four strikeouts. Daniel Beebe and John
Stassen each had two hits and two RBIs while Vincent
finished with two hits to lead Bayside (5-1), which hosts
B.C. Rain at 6 p.m. today.
JACKSON 8, EXCEL 7: The Aggies
rallied with two runs in the fifth and Jeremy Armstead's
two-run homer in the sixth to tie it. Then Anfernee Crayton
walked, stole second and third and scored on Casey Garrick's
game-winning single in the seventh. Jackson (8-0) hosts
Demopolis at 11 a.m. today and Citronelle at 7 tonight.
T.R. MILLER 2, W.S. NEAL 0: In
the Escambia County tournament, Kevin Davis (1-0) struck out
17 in a one-hitter and Caleb McAnally slugged a two-run
homer to lead the Tigers (2-0), who continue in the
tournament against Flomaton at 11 a.m. today.
COTTAGE HILL 12-13, FRUITDALE
0-4: Trey Cockrell had five hits and six RBIs in the
Warriors' sweep. In game one, Grant Carlisle (1-0) pitched
five innings of scoreless, four-hit ball, Will Stallings had
a three-run triple and Cockrell had three-run double. In
game two, Daulton Jackson (1-0) allowed one run on five hits
in three innings, and A.J. Johnson and Cockrell each
finished 4-for-5 with three RBIs. Cottage Hill (3-3) visits
Foley today for a noon doubleheader. |
