Fairhope,
AL (June 7,
2009) -- How dominant were St. Paul's Andrew Miller and
Fairhope's Daryl Norris during the 2009 season? Consider
this: Of the 4,000-plus players who suited up for the
state's high school teams this spring, the local duo has
been selected among the 10 best.
Miller and Norris have been named to the Super
All-State Team -- an elite, 10-member team that
recognizes the state's very best baseball players -- by
the Alabama Sports Writers Association as part of the
2009 All-State Team that is released today.
Miller was selected as an All-State outfielder in
Class 5A, while Norris was picked as a utility player in
6A. In addition, Norris is the 6A Hitter of the Year,
and the 6A MVP.
Miller has signed with Alabama, while Norris recently
completed his junior season. Norris is also considered a
football prospect as a quarterback, but he is considered
a better college and professional prospect as a baseball
player.
The All-State Baseball Team featuers 22 players from
southwest Alabama including three each from Fairhope,
Thomasville and Leroy and two each from St. Paul's,
Excel and Marengo Academy. Thomasville's Reeves Bozeman
was named the 4A Hitter of the Year.
